Leather and Faux Leather

Leather was everywhere on the Autumn Winter 2022 catwalks across all categories. There were skirts, dresses, trousers, dungarees and jackets. The jackets were bikers, blazers, bombers and trenches. The trousers were full length, cropped, wide legged and straight. The colours ranged from black, to chocolate brown, tan and burgundy. There really was something for everyone, so if you don’t own any leather then how about you make this season the one where you give it a try. It doesn’t have to be real leather as there are some great faux leather alternatives that are friendlier to the bank balance. Just make sure that whatever you choose it has a nice supple finish. Choose the piece that works best for you and then search preloved shops before hitting the high street. I have pulled some looks together for you as inspiration on styling from what is currently available online.

Add a chunky gold necklace to finish this outfit off. Leather trousers will work in so many different ways not just as I have created above. They are fab with knitwear, pretty blouses, and sweatshirts, for daywear with trainers, boots or loafers and then with heels for a night out. They are a very versatile piece that you will wear season after season.

I like the tonal loafers with this skirt, but it would also look lovely with a pair of knee high boots in a winter white, tonal tan or chocolate brown. As with the leather trousers, a leather skirt will work well with knitwear, pretty blouses, and sweatshirts. This outfit can be styled with lots of different coats, a full length wool coat in a check will create a sophisticated look perfect for work. Alternatively, a satin bomber will give this outfit a bit of edge. Finally a check blazer for those slightly warmer days will also make this work appropriate.

I love this leather pinafore dress with the pretty autumnal blouse underneath, however it would also look great with a simple skinny rollneck jumper or a t shirt when the weather warms up again. This could also be layered up with a cosy winter white cardigan for extra warmth.

Again, this outfit can be dressed up with heels or down with a nice trainer (as shown with the trousers). The white tank being a key item for the season as per one of my previous blogs.
