Wardrobe Staples – White Shirt

As we embark on another lockdown here in the UK, I thought I would take the opportunity to discuss some wardrobe staples in my next few blogs. Wardrobe staples aren’t the same for everyone, so you can select the relevant ones for you to build your capsule wardrobe. These items don’t have to be expensive, but often it’s an item that won’t date, so you may wish to invest in these.

The piece I will start with is a classic white shirt. A white shirt is most definitely a wardrobe staple that will see you through all seasons. It is a simple and smart item that never goes out of fashion. So if you are looking to make your wardrobe more sustainable, then this capsule item is a must. They can be fitted, loose, or even stolen from your partners wardrobe if you want the oversized look. I have styled a simple H&M white shirt below so you can see its versatility. Wear tucked in to jeans, skirts and trousers. Layer jumpers over for extra warmth. They can be smart or casual, for example, untucked over a pair of leather skinnies and trainers for a casual look, or tucked into a satin skirt with boots for a more formal look. Equally, they are fab in high summer layered over a bikini for a beach cover up.
